1.friday plans: read a book. my life: not unpredictable.
2. just ate a vegetarian hot dog, and it tasted like a regular hot dog. am i surprised? i can’t decide.
3. i’m liking the way my blog has so effortlessly transformed into being, essentially, mcsweeney’s lists. read the one inspired by alan ginsberg, it’s good.
quote of the day –
mia, on the topic of her short story:
“i’m thinking it could just be like, this girl loves this guy, but he does not love her cause she kind of sucks, so then she somehow alters herself (this may or may not involve making a deal with the devil) and then he loves her.”
1. ughhh daily texan
2. ughhh school
3. ughhh! fussy!
ps i met m. ward and is he/he is prematurely grey/gray.
1. spring break, day 1: i’m really going to start my short story now.
2. for the past year or so, i’ve harbored this secret obsession with keeping tabs on l.a.’s mark hunter/the selby/nylon magazine/cory kennedy pseudo-paparazzi, popular crowd. i know, don’t judge.
lately i’ve realized how utterly creepy it all is. and also, mark hunter, aka the “cobrasnake” (?!) reminds me very much of american apparel’s very own pedophile, dov charney. all hunter needs now is a clothing line. oh, wait, he has one.
3. alas, i kind of really wish this were still a food blog; those were the good ol’ days. now i have to pretend my friends care when i tell them i had a new clif bar (cran. apple cherry, grade of B).
1. i chewed twelve sticks of gum today.
2. thank goodness it’s almost time for a break. i’m fed up with contemplating what it’s like to be a bat. the stars are aligning and i think i’m going to stop reading the news permanently. (except, obvi, updates on michelle obama’s arms or laura bennett’s blog.)
3. i need to stop looking at missed connections so much.
ps: happy birthday brittany, my best!
1. my life is doing one of those things where it comes full circle, and the circle begins and ends and revolves around flannery o’connor.
2. tea of the day: good earth jasmine green. at first i was impartial to this tea, because it tastes like an actual flower. now i’m kind of in love.
3. tgit, seriously.
1. helvetica: the movie. helvetica is only my favorite font ever and i can’t even wait, except when i told matt lindley about this (another helvetica fan), he told me the movie was “so two years ago.” please.
2. i think i’ve found my writing niche in writing profiles on specific food items, such as this brilliant piece on the counter-culture behind pimento cheese.
3. today brittany suggested to me the concept of leather bed sheets. that’s all.
*edited to add, she did not advocate leather sheets.
