I never really like Thanksgiving. It’s always kind of boring and I don’t really understand why everyone loves green bean casserole so much.

Today I ate a lot of cranberry sauce and took a 4-hour nap. Also my mom bought me some earplugs and I re-discovered shredded wheat cereal. It’s good to be home.

reminiscing

November 19, 2008

Just remembered this bit of useful information. 2 days ago I found a penny on the floor of La Tazza Fresca (see previous post about the Grease soundtrack). Obviously, I picked it up except Joey, for reasons I’ll never understand, seemed to think this was ridiculous. He would! “Why would you want a penny?”

Then, yesterday I bought a beverage that cost $2.01. I had a (the) penny. True story. Lesson learned, that in this world that takes and takes and takes, I gladly accept anything it offers me.

I think there is something wrong with our kitchen/I can’t cook because everytime the kitchen appliances that are not the toaster oven or microwave are used, the smoke detector goes off. One time we had a dinner party and it went off no less than 10 times. I’m at my wit’s end but everything is ok because today I made up a lifechanging recipe involving baked kale that seriously might be the highlight of my life. That’s not all, we also got a new coffeepot (“sleek black” by Mr. Coffee) because Jen’s mom was afraid our old one would burn down the house (not that this could ever actually happen thanks to our trusty smoke detector).

Speaking of coffee, though, I think I need to find a new coffeeshop because the one that I’ve been frequenting plays the same music playlist every night. It may or may not only have 2 songs–the theme song from Amelie and “You’re the One That I Want” from Grease. Better shape up!

How is it Wednesday again already? I swear, it was only Wednesday…2 posts ago.

Today I misspelled nytimes.com in a hasty, entertainment-seeking moment during Food and Culture class (more on this later). Nothing says fun like Kristol, you know what I mean, but that’s neither here nor there. What’s important was that sneaky evangelical extremists have capitalized on typos and bought the URL of nytiemes.com or maybe its nytmes.com. Regardless, it now displays a PSA that Barack Obama is the antichrist! Good times all around!

Aforementioned haircut I received earlier this week is not on my good list. Bangs, Day 5 display no similarities to Bangs, Day 1.

Food & Culture: NTR 315 should receive its own category on this blog. Most of the ridiculous things that happen in my life occur in its MWF 11-12pm time slot. Today my professor forgot her glasses. Subsequently, class could not happen. Seriously, I question how she drove to school because she turned on the slide show, “could not read any of the slides,”  and promptly forgot how to speak as we copied down the slides in silence. In fact, I think she left. I should write my thesis on this.

halloween, pt. 3 and sunday

November 2, 2008

In retrospect, I realize that Halloween is one of those things that I like in theory, but that in practice I could live without.

Other items on said list include: hot tea, flying kites, exercise. On the plus side, I got to wear a tutu.

+/-:

+ eating twelve tartines, bread on bread pudding.

+ Philip Gourevitch with queso spotted at the Magnolia Cafe

+3.5 bike rides
